The dietary supplements, after getting manufactured, are approved by the officials to fulfill the required safety measures. Various studies claimed that supplements have some harmful side effects. The harmful side effects of the supplements include hair loss, muscle cramps, liver disease, and allergic reactions.

There are various reasons which can cause health issues due to the intake of dietary supplements. These reasons include quality issues in manufacturing or contamination, absorption of the supplement in a short time, an overdose of the supplements, regular intake without any health problems, and consuming many supplements at a time. Overdosage of dietary supplements without any consultation may result in an increased risk of bleeding, loss of the ability to heal the wound, thinning of the blood, heart diseases, different cancers, and so on.

Unintentionally, an individual can also consume more trace nutrients than required, with major side effects on one’s health. Various manufactures combine components and fortify different nutrients in several products (such as cereals, health drinks, and so on) other than supplements which make people overconsume some nutrients unknowingly. For example, if vitamin A is consumed more than its requirement, it can cause liver damage, headaches, and birth effects.

Calcium and phosphate: Softening of the tissues of the body, low plasma calcium level, and formation of calcium crystals.

Zinc: Diarrhea, nausea, and vomiting.

Vitamin A: Vision defects, dizziness, nausea, bone pain, and migraine.

Vitamin B: Birth defects, cholesterol issues, numbness, decrease in coordination, disrupted digestion, and increase in uric acid levels.

Vitamin C: Digestion disorders, cramps, nausea, and diarrhea.
