The word ‘Hadrosaurus’ has been derived from a word that means ‘bulky lizard’. It belongs to the genus Hadrosaurid ornithopod dinosaurs, whose holotype has been found in the fluvial marine sedimentation. Hopkins dug out the big bones and presented them at his home in Haddonfield, attracting visitors. The Hadrosaurus was distinguished as having a shortened pectoral chest and a deltopectoral crest developed from the humeral shaft, which caused the laterodistal border to indicate the broad lateral facet, according to Prieto-Marquez. The supraacetabular crest was located above the lateral edge of the rear to the underside on the posterior tuberosity of the ischial peduncle of the ilium.
The dentary had upper and lower edges that were organized parallel with an elevated coronoid process, which arose from the shelf lateral to the posterior alveoli. There was a crushed replacement dentary tooth crown with three embedded teeth. The morphology of the teeth resembles that of the lectotype. The dorsal vertebrae have very deep and slightly tall spines, anterior dorsals have cylindrical, slightly waisted vertebral centra, and posterior dorsals become more axially compressed and everted edges. The caudal is squat, sub-rectangular in axial view, and inclined forward, succeeded by deeper-boiled, hexagonal caudal, while toward the tip of the tail, they tended to have angular sides and their articular faces tended to be deeply concave. The scapula is long, curved, and expands towards its upper end. The broad coracoid encloses the coracoid foramen near the suture with the scapula. The carpals and metacarpal I cap, the ends of the radius and ulna, are fused into solid blocks that support the fused and squat pollex. The pelvic girdle has a distinctive ilium that has the longest and preacetabular process, which is twisted along its length and has a massive rib facet near its base. The ilium has a slab or rectangular shape and is thick along its dorsal edge with little lateral swelling and inflection along its upper edge. The postacetabular process is deep and rounded in shape. The external surface of the shaft of the ischium adjacent to the obturator process displays the vertical ridge that runs along the shaft. The pubis is thick, deep, and slightly curved upward and is dorsoventrally compressed. The pubic shaft extends to the tip of the ischial shaft.
The Hadrosaurus foulkii lived 65 million BC years ago. It weighed four tons and was about 30 feet long from the tip of the nose to the tip of the tail. It was a large plant-eater that browsed leaves and branches along the marshes and shrublands of the Atlantic Coast. The H. foulkii belongs to the duckbill family as it has a birdlike jaw and skull structure. They traveled in herds. The females laid eggs in nests and nurtured offspring for a long time. The vertebrae were arranged in serpentine strings and were topped with crocodile-like skulls. This dinosaur was bipedal, and the great disproportion of dimensions between the fore and back parts of its skeleton caused the enormous herbivorous lizard to go extinct. The Hadrosaurus sustained itself in the erect position like that of a kangaroo, on its back, extremities, and tail.
