Cultural Differences in Gender Socialization
For effective gender socialization to be realized at the cultural level, a child may be the best person to teach and unlearn many of the cultural issues. These cultural differences in gender socialization include; interactions, obedience to the rules, rewards, chores, public image, and marriage roles.
Culture has taught both the male and women to behave in a certain way in society. This started at a time when they were young people. They were trained on how to interact with each other. This is the reason why you will find in some cultures that girls and boys meet or interact in society until they reach a certain maturity age. They are required to adhere to the said rules until they are exhibit high standards of interactions. This also explains why men interact most in society more than girls because of societal issues. These differences may not apply to all cultures. This may find them wondering why all this uniqueness may arise. The questions being asked may also apply to why certain learning process may be deemed diverse when the cultures differ from each other. Conflicts in these cultures may be deemed as the competition among the parties to be presumed to be of a different background.
The interaction among the genders may also advance to the adults where you may find challenging men discussing issues with men. This might be a culture that was borrowed from others. It is of great importance to note that cultures are learned and may apply differently from one culture to another. These differences may be then a reason why interactions may be limited to certain people based on their age, sex, and social status.
Rules, Regulations and Gender Socialization
Rules in each society do differ from one culture to another. Hence, is of great importance to note that these cultural rules are applied to safeguard the interests of the people with who they live. This requires that the new generation through gender differences may be instilled with a certain type of knowledge. This must be an assured way of guaranteeing and passing the sanctions and regulations under which the society operates.
If there will be conflicts in the rules, it is required that parties find a unique way of settling disputes and differences that may arise on gender issues. Each community has unique rules for specific people and gender and age. A rule may be made in a certain community that requires that any lady who is found having sex at a tender age should be punished and considered an outcast as a result of their actions. This sexual desire may be different from another community why should be adhered to when a need arises. Rules are meant to protect people and regulate their behaviors may be applied even to all members of society. The same must be approved by the members of the society.
Regulations in society are geared to ensure that different genders are protected and socialized to suit the expectations of society. This socialization must be extended to the members of the society regardless of the gender parity that each party may be enjoying. One of the examples that rues may apply is when a woman and a man fights in the public, a man may be punished severely in one community than the other. This may be different in another community in that it is only the women that will be punished if they will be found having issues or fighting with men in society. Therefore, such gender parity and learning may be adopted in such a way that there will be no conflicts among them.
Behavior is paramount in the existence of people in certain cultures. In some cultures, men are trained to respect men than women. They have been indoctrinated to believe that women are lesser beings and they be undervalued. Therefore, the purpose of culture is not to punish but improve the way of life.
